Brandon Morrow threw a 25-pitch bullpen session a short while ago, then walked briskly into the clubhouse followed by a trainer and team doctor. That’s not a good sign for a guy expected to be part of the Mariners’ rotation.
Morrow said he continued to feel the tightness in his right forearm that affected him the last time he pitched, and he’s sure he won’t pitch Friday against the Cubs as originally planned.
Morrow threw all fastballs and changeups this morning, saying he felt the most discomfort on the changeup.
Now what?
Morrow said the Mariners’ medical staff is discussing that. There’s still a lot of time before opening day, but time already is running short for Morrow to be ready. Friday would have been his first game in 13 days, and now it looks like he’ll be down a while to let the inflammation subside.
