Mount Vernon’s Walser signs with Montana-Western

Mount Vernon wide receiver/defensive back Melvin Walser signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Montana-Western on Friday.

Walser will reunite with quarterback Bennett Gibson, who graduated from Mount Vernon in 2013. With Gibson throwing to him, Walser nearly had 1,000 yards receiving in his junior season.

Another connection to the Frontier Conference, which UMW plays in, is that Walser’s brother, Ray, just finished his career playing football at Eastern Oregon University, another team that calls the Frontier Conference home.
