MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The Mountlake Terrace boys basketball team extended its season for at least one more game.
The Hawks defeated Shorecrest 55-47 in a Wesco South game, forcing a playoff game with Kamiak, which lost to 54-35 to Mariner. Both teams finished the regular season with 6-10 records, tying for fourth place in Wesco South.
Mountlake Terrace plays at Kamiak at 7 p.m. Saturday, with the winner advancing as the No. 4 seed into the 4A District One tournament.
“We are happy to get this opportunity without a doubt” Hawks coach Nalin Sood said. “We are excited to be able to play at least one more game.”
Karsten Strieby scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Hawks
The Scots’ Mark Golike scored a game-high 20 points and had 10 rebounds.

Taylor Stevens scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Marysville-Pilchuck. Eric McCardle led the Wildcats with 11 points.

4A Wesco District 1 preliminaries: At Marysville, Snohomish’s Eric Pedack won the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke in the preliminary round. Pedack also led off the Panthers 200 medley relay victory and anchored the 400 freestyle team to a second place finish behind Kamiak. The final round will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School pool.
