No need to turn that radio dial the next few years if you’re a Mariners fan. The Mariners announced this morning a multi-year contract extension with 710 ESPN as its radio network flagship. Length of the contract was not announced.
The deal includes all regular-season games and at least 20 spring training games, plus pregame, postgame and offseason programming focusing on the Mariners.
Mariners games aired on 710 AM (KIRO) from 1985-2002 before moving to KOMO radio from 2003-08. It returned to 710 in 2009.
The Mariners have not made decisions on who will accompany play-by-play broadcaster Rick Rizzs on radio broadcasts in 2012. This season, the Mariners’ first since the death of lead broadcaster Dave Niehaus, several who’ve called Mariners games in the past worked alongside Rizzs.
