Archbishop Murphy senior Sam Shober is a state finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Memorial Trophy.
Since 1994, the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program has honored more than 250,000 of the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors, awarding “well-rounded young men and woman who excel in learning, performing, and leading in the class room, on the field and in the community,” according to the program’s website.
Shober, a linebacker on the Wildcats football team, is one of 10 boys athletes from the state of Washington to be a finalist for the Heisman Memorial Trophy. One senior boy athlete and girl athlete from each state and the District of Columbia will be selected on Friday, Nov. 4 as state winners and 12 national finalists will be picked soon after. National finalists receive an invitation to the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program Weekend Dec. 9-11, including the National Awards Banquet on Dec. 10 in New York City.
