The Stevens Pass ski area begins night operations starting today.
The slopes will be open to skiing from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday. Skiing goes from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The same schedule will be in operation the following weekend, Dec. 21, 22 and 23.
The resort hosts the Open Season Rail Jam, its first event of the ski season, on Saturday. The event, where skiers and snowboarders ply their skills on a series of rails in front of a panel of judges, is open to everyone. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at a cost of $10 for amateurs and $15 for pros.
