There’s no shortage of optimism regarding the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks begin the 2017 season Sunday when they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers, and it seems fans believe that game will be the beginning of a victory lap for Seattle.
This week’s Seattle Sidelines poll asked readers how many games they think the Seahawks will win this season, and the answer is, “a lot.” Here’s the results:

Add those two together and nearly 90 percent of the responders believe the Seahawks will win at least 10 games this season. Fifty-one percent said Seattle would win 10-12 games, while 37 percent said it would be 13 or more. Eight-to-nine received just nine percent, while a paltry three percent expect Seattle to finish under .500.
Those numbers make a certain amount of sense, considering the Seahawks have reached double-digit wins in five consecutive seasons and return the core of their team. However, the large percentage for 13-plus shows particular optimism, considering Seattle reached that total just once over the past five campaigns and just twice in the team’s 41-year history. In both of those seasons the Seahawks reached the Super Bowl, so clearly there’s large contingent of fans who believe the Seahawks are a Super Bowl team again this year.
This week could be a good barometer. Playing at Green Bay is about as difficult as it gets for the Seahawks this season, ranking with Christmas Eve’s game at Dallas as the toughest games on Seattle’s schedule, according to FiveThirtyEight.com’s calculations. If the Seahawks can beat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers on the road, it may be the first step in an epic season. At least that’s what the voters think.
