Prep baseball: Coupeville wins two, advances to state

BELLINGHAM — Ben Eztell threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 12 and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and Jake Tumblin scored the game-winning run in the eighth inning to lead Coupeville past Overlake in the first of two 1A Tri-District games for the Wolves. In the Third-Place game Aaron Curtin finished 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI pacing Coupeville to the victory. With the two wins on Saturday, the Wolves advance to the state tournament where they will face Anacortes in the opening round, Saturday the 24th at 10 a.m. at Anacortes high school.
