Prep baseball: Monroe 13, Cascade 2 (5)

EVERETT — Behind the pitching of Jacob Cogar and the key hitting of Patrick Siler, Monroe defeated Cascade 13-2 in a 4A District 1 Tournament game in five innings on Saturday.

Siler finished the game batting 3-for-4 with with three runs scored and Cogar pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run and striking out four.

“Jacob was fantastic today,” said Bearcats head coach Eric Chartrand. “He had a difficult strike zone, but he figured it out. He’s been the consummate leader of my squad. I couldn’t be happier with how he pitched.”

With the victory Monroe advances to face Jackson Monday night at 4 p.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium.
