EVERETT — Bayek Tutlam had a double-double for Mariner with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds in the nonleague win.
The Marauders outscored Everett 21-12 in the first quarter and held on in the fourth for their second win after going 0-20 a year ago.
Mariner head coach Tom Jensen chalks up his team’s newfound winning ways to preparation and execution. The team has seven seniors and is returning a lot of experience, said Jensen.
Defense decided the end of this game, with Mariner holding a six-point lead with 12 seconds to go. The Marauders fouled an Everett 3-point shooter who then made all three shots. Everett then fouled on a one-and-one with three seconds left and Mariner missed the front end, but the Marauders were able to deflect a half-court pass with a second left for the win.
