Prep boys swimming: 3A State Meet

FEDERAL WAY — Shorecrest diver Aaron Moss scored 513.85 points to finish in first place after the preliminary round of the 3A State Swim and Dive Championships. Moss leads Kennedy’s Brian Donohue by 100.8 points at the halfway point of the competition, which is being held at the King County Aquatics Center.

The Scots also had two individuals and one relay team place in the top 8 to advance to Saturday’s A Finals. Carter Osborne finished seventh in the 200 yard freestyle and Grant Heisey took fifth in the 500 freestyle. Osborne and Heisey joined Russel Groves and Axel Wickstrom to propel Shorecrest to a fourth-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay.

Marysville Pilchuck’s Colin Willis had a strong start on Friday taking fifth in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 100 butterfly. Fellow Tomahawk Taner Husby finished fourth in diving, while Marysville Getchell’s Dominique Gray is currently in eighth place.

Josh Jepsen of Oak Harbor captured seventh in the 100 breaststroke and took part in the Wildcats’ seventh-place 200 medley relay team, along with Cedric Cabigting, Caley Powers and Kevin Levy. Shorewood’s 200 freestyle relay team of Torrey Morales, Galen Kintner, Adam Hill and Andrew Garrison also placed seventh.
