PUYALLUP — La Conner outscored Darrington 16-4 in the fourth quarter to earn a 44-31 win in the girls 2B Bi-District championship game on Saturday at Chief Leschi H.S.
Amy Miles and Jordyn Stafford each scored nine points for the Loggers, who kept the game close prior to the final period.
“We started turning the ball over (in the fourth),” said Darrington head coach Jeff Anderson. “They started making shots and we went into panic mode.”
It was La Conner’s first win over Darrington in three tries this season. Anderson said the Loggers haven’t been the same team since they played the Braves a month ago and identified some areas his team needed to work on before next week’s regional game.
“We have not played as well since the last time we beat them,” said Anderson. “We’re gonna get back to work on defense. I think we’re giving up too much defensively. We will spend more time shooting free throws as well.”
With the loss, Darrington advances as the No. 2 seed from District 1/2. The Loggers will play the District 7/9 No. 4 seed in a winner-to-state/loser-out game on Friday at 6 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace H.S.
