Prep girls basketball: Mount Vernon 58, Darrington 51

DARRINGTON — Alyssa Evans scored 17 and Mount Vernon held off a furious comeback by Darrington in a nonleague game. Trailing 31-13 at halftime, Darrington scored 21 points in the third quarter and actually cut the Bulldogs lead to four in the fourth quarter but Mount Vernon did enough to gain the victory. Casandra Cousins led the Loggers with 17 points and Riley Anderson added 12.
