Prep girls basketball: Woods scores 27 to lead Edmonds-Woodway to victory

MILL CREEK — Angela Woods scored 27 points to help Edmonds-Woodway defeat Jackson 57-54 in a Wesco South girls basketball game on Saturday night.

“Angela Woods had a great ball game,” Jackson coach Jeannie Thompson said. “She shot the lights out.”

Edmonds-Woodway had extended its lead to 10 points in the third quarter, but Jackson was able to cut it to two with 15 seconds remaining behind the efforts of Kristin Stoffel and Leigh-Ann Haataja.

Jackson then forced a five-second violation to regain possession, but Chanel Sam was unable to convert a drive into the lane and Jackson’s fate was sealed.

Despite the loss Jackson is excited at where it is headed with no seniors on this year’s team and getting Erin Feeney back from illness next week, Thompson said. Feeney is expected to bring more stability and shooting to Jackson’s guard play.
