PREP ROUNDUP

MARYSVILLE — Saturday’s wrestling tournament might have been at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, but Snohomish had enough talent to steal the show.

Snohomish placed wrestlers in six of the 14 weight division championships to score 225 points and edge Moses Lake for first place at the Marysville-Pilchuck Premiere Invite Saturday. Marysville-Pilchuck placed 10th with 81 points and Stanwood (6th) and Arlington (7th) also placed in the top ten.

Moses Lake finished with 178 points to place second.

“We knew Moses Lake was going to be tough,” Snohomish head coach Rob Zabel. “They’ve got a great program, we’ve got a lot of respect for them.”

Snohomish’s Mike Maybin competed in the heavy weight division in place of four year varsity wrestler Jake Reinhard, who is out with an injury and placed third.

“He’s done an awesome job for us,” Zabel said of Maybin. “He’s really matured in the last couple months.”

Arlington was led by Chris Meyers (160-pounds) and Bryant Dickerson (Heavy weight), who each won their weight division.
