SHORELINE — Everett overcame a slow start and erupted for 11 runs in the final four innings as the Seagulls knocked off Shorecrest 11-1 in a Wesco 3A game.
“We were not mentally ready to play inning number one,” admitted Everett head coach Casey Chaffee. “It took us a couple of innings to get going.”
Leading off the fourth inning, Seagulls pitcher Lexie Levin jumpstarted the offense with a home run.
“After Levin’s homer, everyone else just followed at the plate,” Chaffee said.
Cherise Shaver went 3-for-5 with a double and Demaree Trull scored three runs for Everett.
Levin finished the night 3-for-4 with two RBI, but it was her performance in the circle that kept Everett in the game until the offense woke up. Levin only allowed only four baserunners total, struck out seven and the Everett defense did not commit an error.
“Levin mixed pitches and speeds well,” said Chaffee. “She has confidence in her defense, so she can take some risks, knowing that the fielders behind her will make plays.”
Shorecrest’s Anisa Gomez hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
