EVERETT — Amanda Eshelman and Katie Champoux both had home runs in the second inning to give Shorecrest the lead and the Scots held on the rest of the way. The victory earns Shorecrest third place in the 3A District 1 Softball Tournament as well as a trip to state.
“Its kind of a blur of emotions,” said Shorecrest head coach Jackie Berg.
Champoux led off the second with a solo shot to tie it up, then later in the inning Eshelman hit a two-out, two-run home run for the eventual game-winning RBI.
A state berth was far from certain after the Scots lost their second-round game to Mountlake Terrace Tuesday. They needed to win both games today or their season would be over.
“We’ve worked really hard to get where we are right now. … (the players) are living it up right now, enjoying the moment.”
