MOUNT VERNON — Stanwood had three individual champions, and 12 of its 13 wrestlers place as it took the team title at the Paul Reiman Classic at Mount Vernon High School on Saturday.
The Spartans, who scored 191 points, won their first team title in awhile.
“It’s the first team title in about seven years,” said Stanwood head coach Ray Mather.
Jacob Cole (113-pounds), Zach Schutt (152) and Kyle Bennett (170) all earned individual championships for the Spartans, who beat out Blaine — which finished second — and Mount Vernon.
Marysville Pilchuck also found itself with three individual champions, including Killian Page who won a 12-6 decision over Stanwood’s Josh Langstaff at 126-pounds. Christian Mendoza and Chris Herbert won at 132- and 182-pounds respectively for the Tomahawks, who finished fourth out of eight teams.
