Prep wrestling: White River Classic Tournament

BUCKLEY — Jessie Lopez of Everett High School finished in first place and extended his undefeated streak by dominating the 138-pound weightclass at the White River Classic. Eight state placers were in Lopez’s bracket as he majored or pinned all of his opponents, including Bonney Lake’s Cade Caveness, who he beat 8-0. Seagulls wrestler Anthony Hawkins suffered an early loss at 170 but battled back to beat Centralia’s Joey Vanderschot, who had beaten Hawkins earlier, 11-2. Sophomore Rick Stewart placed fifth at 195 pounds.
