With the Christmas break upon us, it seems a good time to give an update on how Everett’s prospects are doing. Obviously I haven’t seen any of these guys play, so I don’t know how they’re actually performing, but I can provide their stats.
Everett has a pair of players playing Junior A, both in the MJHL:
F Brett Chartier (91), Winnipeg Saints, 37 G, 13-10-23, 64 PIM
D Paul Sohor (91), Selkirk Steelers, 35 G, 1-3-4, 26 PIM
Given that both these guys made Team West for the U-17 World Hockey Challenge, I think that’s an indication they’re playing well.
Everett also has two players playing Junior B in the PIJHL:
F Kellan Tochkin (91), Ridge Meadow Flames, 16 G, 13-16-29, 42 PIM
F Cameron Abney (91), North Delta Devils, 27 G, 6-10-16, 94 PIM
Tochkin started the season in Junior A, but dropped down to Junior B and is putting up huge numbers. He’s also going to the U-17s, for Team Pacific.
The Tips have several players in the major midget leagues:
Manitoba
F Byron Froese (91), Pembina Valley Hawks, 20 G, 12-20-32, 8 PIM
F Paul Grenier (91), Winnipeg Wild, 23 G, 3-13-16, 16 PIM
Saskatchewan
F Justin Waskewitch (92), Beardy’s Blackhawks, 11 G, 3-6-9, 6 PIM
D Mitch Boucher (92), Moose Jaw Warriors, 24 G, 2-3-5, 14 PIM
F Campbell Elynuik (92), Notre Dame Argos, 29 G, 1-1-2, 40 PIM
D Kyle Janzen (92), Prince Albert Mintos, 8 G, 0-2-2, 12 PIM
F D.J. McGrath (92), Saskatoon Contacts, 25 G, 11-11-22, 30 PIM
B.C.
D Jordan Duncan (92), Cariboo Cougars, 24 G, 1-5-6, 44 PIM
D Brett Kolins (92), Fraser Valley Bruins, 24 G, 1-6-7, 64 PIM
F Brody Moen (91), Thompson Blazers, 23 G, 3-3-6, 77 PIM
One disclaimer, I can’t confirm that all these guys are still on Everett’s list, though they were during training camp. All the other prospects (Kent Simpson, Tyler Parker, Markus McCrea, Gabriel Minville, etc.) are playing for teams/league that aren’t as reliable when it comes to stats.
