The Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup was completed today in Calgary. This tournament was for 1998-born players, meaning those who were selected in this year’s bantam draft. Everett had four prospects who played in the tournament, and here’s how they fared:
– Everett had two players on Team British Columbia, which earned the silver medal. Forward Tyson Jost (first round) had two goals and three assists in four games to finish tied for second on the team in scoring. Forward Keyvan Mokhtari (seventh round) had one goal in four games.
– The Tips also had two players on Team Manitoba, which was coached by Everett scout Doug Sinclair. Defenseman Darby Gula (listed) had three assists in four games, with all three coming in today’s 10-3 victory over Saskatchewan in the bronze-medal game. Forward Kevin Jakisch (fourth round) had one goal and one assist in four games.
