Rebounds help Meadowdale win

LYNNWOOD – The Meadowdale Mavericks dominated the boards to defeat the Arlington Eagles 51-43 in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Meadowdale High School.

“Our defense was good tonight and we owned the boards,” Meadowdale assistant coach Dean Wiley said.

Meadowdale (4-3 overall) out rebounded Arlington 35-17.

Nero Threet led Meadowdale with 13 points and 10 rebounds, Bryant Marsh had 11 points, including three 3-pointers and Robel Kidanu added eight points, six assists and five rebounds.

David Griffiths scored all 17 of his points in the first half for Arlington (2-4).

Kamiak 49, Oak Harbor 48: At Oak Harbor, Rahiti Marere scored a team-high 13 points to lead Kamiak to the non-conference victory. With Kamiak ahead by three points, Oak Harbor’s tying attempt fell short and was tipped in at the buzzer for the final score. Oak Harbor’s Rodrick Rumble led all scorers with 16 points.

North Torrance, Calif., 97, Cascade 89: At Redondo Beach, Calif., Luke Duperron scored a game-high 36 points, including nine 3-pointers to lead North Torrance of Los Angeles to a first-round victory in the Redondo Beach Pacific Shores Tournament. Cascade was led by Sean Carter with 27 points and 16 rebounds. Teammate Mike Matson scored a team-high 32 points, including four 3-pointers.
