Rome’s track and field throws clinic set for March 14

Two-time Olympian Jarred Rome of Marysville will host his annual track and field throws clinic on March 14 at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Check-in is from 9-10 a.m., with the clinic running from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

The clinic is open to athletes and coaches. The instructors include Rome, a two-time national champion and Pan American Games silver medalist, in the discus; 2008 Olympics silver medalist and four-time World Championships gold medalist Christian Cantwell in the shot; and two-time Olympian and three-time national champion Duncan Atwood in the javelin.

There will be morning and afternoon sessions in the discus, shot and javelin, and there will also be a question-and-answer period with the instructors at the end of the clinic.

The cost is $100 for athletes and $125 for coaches. Proceeds from the event benefit the track and field program at Marysville Pilchuck.
