So what do you think Seahawks fans? That’s four wins in five weeks after a 2-6 start. And while it’s easy to lament what might have been had the Seahawks won at Cleveland or home against Washington or Cincinnati, the most encouraging thing for this franchise is the progress it can build heading into next year and beyond. Yes, the Seahawks still have a shot at the playoffs if they win out, but even if they don’t make it to 9-7, or if that’s not good enough, you’d have to feel better about them heading into 2012 with the way they’ve played in the second half of the season than if they were to finish with four or five wins.
“It was a good night of ball for us,” said Pete Carroll. “To come back again and do the things we’ve been trying to do since the second half of the season started—running the football, playing (special) teams and trying to hold it down on D—it worked out really well again… I’m really pleased about the style of play, you can see what we’re trying to get done. It’s obvious what we’re emphasizing and the guys are responding.”
As for tonight’s game, a few impressive performances, including another big game for Marshawn Lynch, but no one stood out like WR Doug Baldwin, who was stellar on special teams with a blocked punt, a big kickoff return and a downed punt inside the 10.
“The guy that stood out, by far, was Doug Baldwin,” Carroll said. “… He just continues to answer the call. You give him chances, you give him opportunities, and he does stuff.”
INJURY UPDATE
LG Robert Gallery sat out Seattle’s final drive with a hip injury, but Carroll said the guard could have finished the game if needed. That allowed rookie Jarriel King to make his debut. He played LT with Paul McQuistan moving from tackle to guard.
LB Leroy Hill left near the end of the game with what Carroll called a stinger. Carroll said Hill “felt OK in the locker room.”
