Seahawks D-line coach Wash takes job with Jaguars

When former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley left earlier this month to become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, there was immediate speculation that defensive-line coach Todd Wash might join Bradley in Florida.

After all, Wash and Bradley are former college teammates, and have coached together at their alma mater, North Dakota State, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and in Seattle. On Monday, the Jaguars announced that Wash will indeed join Bradley in Jacksonville as the Jags’ defensive-line coach. According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll allowed Wash to make the lateral move.

One possible replacement for Wash could be Florida defensive-line coach Bryant Young. Young worked under Dan Quinn on the Gators staff before Quinn was named Bradley’s replacement in Seattle. Young, a former Pro-Bowl defensive tackle in San Francisco, also played for Quinn when Quinn was the defensive-line coach of the 49ers. Another option is current USC defensive-line coach Jethro Franklin, who coached under Carroll twice at USC (2005, then again in 2009).
