It’s game week, which meant Pete Carroll’s first formal press conference of the year, and with it some updates on injured players who may or may not be able to play this week. But before we get to that, check out this Tweet from Percy Harvin.
What’s goin 12th man just checkn in …I’m making serious progress …keep an eye on week 7…don’t hang them 11’s up…..we workn

Now obviously Harvin Tweeting this doesn’t mean he’s definitely going to be back by midseason, but you’d have to think if he’s putting that out there, he is getting good feedback from doctors on the progress he’s making in his recovery from hip surgery. Carroll has said recently that Harvin is progressing well, but did not put any time table on a return. A return anywhere near Week 7 would certainly be a big boost to the Seahawks.
Now, on to what Carroll had to say today. Carroll was talking before the team had practiced yet, so the status on many players won’t be as clear until later in the week, but he sounded optimistic that Sidney Rice will be fine for Sunday’s opener.
“He’s going,” Carroll said. “He’s ready to go. We’ve counseled our way through it in a sense and I think we’ve done a great job of it. The guys in the training room have brought him to the point where he’s ready to go. We’ll see at the end of the week how he handles the practice load and all of that, but I anticipate he’s going to be just fine. He looks like he’s ready to go, and he certainly has fresh legs.”
On the beat up defensive line, Carroll said Brandon Mebane, Tony McDaniel, Cliff Avril and Chris Clemons will all practice, but that there is still no plan for Clemons to play this week. The status of Avril is still unclear, but Carroll is hopeful the defensive tackles will play
“Mebane will practice today, Tony will practice today, Clem’s going to get on the practice field for the first time, Cliff Avril will practice today, so we’ll have a number of guys back out there,” Carroll said. “We’ll see what that means as we get going. Like I said, we’re not trying to get Clem ready to play in this game, we’re just trying to get him back on the practice field, and we’ll see where Cliff stands, I don’t know if he’s far enough along. But we’d like to see the tackle play, we think they can.”
WR Stephen Williams will also return to practice after suffering a concussion last week: “He’s ready to go. We’re going to make sure he doesn’t get banged around at all, but he’s going to practice all day.”
