COLUMBUS, Ohio — Forward Jordan Morris has joined the U.S. injured list and will miss Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Mexico.
Morris, who plays for the Seattle Sounders, strained a hamstring during Seattle’s Major League Soccer playoff game against Dallas on Sunday. He was replaced on the U.S. roster Tuesday by 35-year-old LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon.
Gordon made his U.S. debut in October 2012, entering in the 73rd minute and assisting on Eddie Johnson’s 90th-minute goal in a 2-1 win at Antigua and Barbuda in a World Cup qualifier. The only other international appearance for the 6-foot-3 attacker was when he entered in the second half of last year’s 2-1 loss to Jamaica in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The U.S. also is missing defender Geoff Cameron, midfielder Kyle Beckerman and forwards Clint Dempsey and Chris Wondolowski. Dempsey is also a member of the Sounders.
