Stanwood 9-U team claims Cal Ripken title

OTHELLO — The Stanwood Stealth won the Northern Washington 2012 Cal Ripken 9-U state baseball championship over the weekend, beating Moses Lake 5-4 in the title game.

Stanwood posted a 5-0 record in the tournament and outscored its opponents 60-33.

Stanwood advances to the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament, which begins July 25 in Meridian, Idaho.

The Stealth roster includes Aden Johnston, Aidan Carter, AJ Smith, Ashton Olson, Cade Armstrong, CJ Daniel, Darren Smith, Jake Cleary, Justin Place, Mark Luque, Michael Tsoukalas, Nicholas Salstrom and Reidar Vane.

The team is coached by Rich Olson, Bill Armstrong and Jay Smith.
