The Stanwood AAU boys basketball program produced three Wesco champions this season.
The eighth-grade squad posted a 49-1 overall record, including 18-0 in league play, and won the Wesco tournament with a 73-40 victory over Jackson on March 3 at Marysville Getchell High School.
Team members included AJ Martinka, Bryson Kelley, Quinton Borseth, Cameron Plautz, Chase Strieby, Nathan Holmgren, Henry Oldow, Jackson Yost, Carter Garcea, Kaden Stinardo and Braden Wiedmann. They were coached by Reid Martinka, Adam Borseth and Craig Kelley.
Stanwood’s seventh-grade team completed a 51-7 season with a 47-37 victory over Monroe in the championship game of the Wesco tournament. The roster included Trey Austin, Carson Bickford, Karl DeBoer, Trygve DeBoer, Nate Kummer, Garrett Larson, Carson Midthun, Jack Softcheck, Matt Vail and Tyler Younce. The team was coached by Dave Austin and JP DeBoer.
The sixth-graders posted a 53-7 record and defeated Marysville 67-35 in the championship game of the Wesco tournament. The roster included Ethan Nicholson, Jorren Collins, Mitchell Jones, Daniel Wiedmann, Brock Strieby, Mathew Zietz, PJ Holm, Mason Hutchinson, Josh Rzechula and Ashton McKinley. The team was coached by Rich Olson and Matt Strieby.
