The Washington Stealth won’t be going to the National Lacrosse League playoffs.
The Stealth needed a Rochester Knighthawks victory over the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday to remain in playoff contention.
But the Bandits’ Mark Steenhuis scored four goals as Buffalo claimed the NLL’s final remaining playoff berth with a 14-9 victory over Rochester.
Buffalo’s victory eliminated Washington from playoff consideration. The Stealth won the Champion’s Cup in 2010 and lost to the Toronto Rock in last season’s NLL championship game.
Washington is the only team in the nine-team NLL to miss the postseason.
The Stealth host the Bandits in the regular season finale next Saturday at Comcast Arena.
