The Washington Stealth on Thursday signed forward Rhys Duch to a contract for the 2011 National Lacrosse League season.
Duch, 24, earned second-team NLL honors last season as he helped the Stealth win the first Champion’s Cup in franchise history. He finished seventh in the NLL in points with 86. His 53 assists and 33 goals ranked seventh and 12th, respectively, in the league.
Duch added 25 points in the playoffs (11 goals, 14 assists).
“Rhys is one of the top forwards in the NLL and one of the game’s rising stars,” Stealth general manager Doug Locker said in a press release. “He was a huge part of our championship run a year ago, and its great to have him back to help us defend our title in 2011. Rhys is not only a great lacrosse player, but is a terrific person and a very positive role model for lacrosse here in the Pacific Northwest.”
The Stealth open the 2011 season Jan. 8 at Colorado.
