Seattle held its largest lead of the game — 26 points — early in the fourth quarter. A 3-point field goal by Atlanta’s Angel McCoughtry’s with 3:25 remaining capped a 19-4 run that cut Atlanta’s deficit to 82-71, but Bird’s 3-pointer made it 89-73 with 1:42 to play and the Storm held on.
McCoughtry shot 12-for-17 from the field and scored 32 points. Tiffany Hayes added 20 points for the Dream (14-14).
The Storm played without starting forward Crystal Langhorne, who suffered a lacerated right eye Friday in a game against the Chicago Sky. Ramu Tokashiki made her first start of the season, notching eight points and seven rebounds.
The Storm continue their four-game road trip Wednesday with a game against the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden. The tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
