Scouting Report

The Seattle Storm conclude their current five-game road trip tonight in Tulsa. It has been a trip to forget for the Storm as they have lost their previous four games, but tonight’s game brings hope.

The Shock are winless this season and the only team the Storm have beaten so far in 2012. The last time the Storm played a complete and perhaps the only time they have played a complete game this season was June 1 in a 76-58 victory over Tulsa at KeyArena.

That win was also the last time that point guard Sue Bird carried the load offensively, scoring 27 points, including making five of her seven 3-pointers in that contest. But Bird’s season average is just 10.5 points per game.

As a team, the Storm are averaging 38.2 percent shooting per game and scoring just 64.9 ppg, while allowing opponents to shoot 42.1 percent and score 73.5 ppg.

Storm head coach Brian Agler insists it isn’t time to panic, but at 1-7, the Storm have the second worst record in the league — only Tulsa is worse — and would be on the outside of the playoffs looking in if the season ended today. Lauren Jackson remains in Australia training for the 2012 Olympics and isn’t returning any time soon. The Storm have to find a way to turn things around to ensure that they haven’t played themselves out of a playoff spot before Jackson’s return in August.

Much like the Storm, the Shock have struggled on the offensive end. Though they average 74.5 ppg, they are shooting just 36.5 percent from the field. They are also allowing opponents to shoot 47.2 percent, while averaging 82.9 ppg, which could bode well for the struggling Storm.
