Scouting Report

With the playoffs fast approaching, the Seattle Storm should be as close to 100 percent healthy as they have been in some time for tonight’s regular-season home finale against the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Center Lauren Jackson is expected to return to the lineup after missing three games with a hamstring injury. Point guard Sue Bird returned on Tuesday after missing the same amount of games with a hip injury.

The return of the two stars couldn’t come at a better time, the Storm have just tonight’s match up with San Antonio and Sunday’s road game against Phoenix to prepare for their first round best-of-three playoff series with the defending WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx have held the league’s best record wire-to-wire this season and with just two games to play, are closing in on the best record in league history.

Minnesota will host the Storm next Friday in Game 1 and Game 2 will be held in Seattle on Sunday night. If necessary, Game 3 will be played back in Minnesota.

One question mark for the Storm this evening is guard/forward Svetlana Abrosimova. Abrosimova sprained her wrist in Tuesday’s win over Chicago and is listed as day-to-day. If Abrosimova and Jackson are both able to play tonight, it will be just the sixth time this season that the Storm have had all 11 players available for a game.

Injuries have certainly played a big role in the Storm’s 14-18 record this season, but seeing what they can do as a healthy unit in these final two regular season games will go a long way towards showing if the Storm have what it takes to pull off a playoff upset.
