One of the things you have to admire about this Storm basketball team is that when there is a job to be done, they do it.
Seattle had struggled on the defensive end for much of this game, but when it needed it the most, the Storm got crucial stops and closed out the Washington Mystics 79-71.
Give the Mystics credit, they aren’t in the same class as the Storm, but they just wouldn’t go away. They cut the Storm lead to just two late in the game, but the reigning WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week, Sue Bird, was too much for Washington.
Bird scored 22 points, including a late breakaway layup that iced the game for Seattle.
Marissa Coleman led the Mystics with 16 points.
