Sunday Seahawks links

Good afternoon. These were going to be morning links, but well, I didn’t get around to it. Sorry, lazy Sunday, I guess.

First off, to answer a question I’ve gotten a lot on twitter and email, and will probably continue to see: we don’t know yet if Percy Harvin will play next week following a concussion. We probably won’t find out when Pete Carroll talks to the media Monday, either, or for that matter during his Wednesday press conference. The way the league’s concussion protocol works, it takes a player a good chunk of the week to be cleared. The good news for Seattle is that Harvin will have one extra day to recover because Seattle played Saturday.

Anyway, if you’re looking for something to read during the fourth quarter of 49ers-Panthers, here you go:

In today’s Herald, Rich Myhre’s game story.

My column on how the Seahawks are built to win playoff games in ugly weather.

David Krueger with a look at the key third-down pass to Doug Baldwin. And also from Krueger, a story on how Seattle’s D made prolific TE Jimmy Graham a non-factor.

And speaking of Graham, Todd Fredrickson caught up with LB Bruce Irvin, who got into it with Graham before the game. Pretty funny stuff from Irvin.

Fredrickson also has a story on Harvin’s short day, and a look at how Michael Bennett’s play helped spark another strong defensive effort.

Myhre with a look at how big a factor the weather was, especially in the kicking game.

And a couple more from me, a look at Marshawn Lynch’s big day, and at Seattle’s decision to go with rookie Michael Bowie at left guard.

Lots of good stuff from the News Tribune here, and from the Seattle Times here.

Art Thiel of with a column on Beastquake, the sequel, sending Seattle to the NFC championship game.

And speaking of ground shaking, has a seismic timeline. And according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, Lynch’s 31-yard score actually caused more seismic activity than did his famous earth-shaking run against the Saints three years ago.

Danny O’Neil of 710 ESPN Seattle says you can now exhale, Seahawks fans.

Mike Silver of says the Seahawks are peaking at the right time.

For a look from the other side, lots of good Saints coverage at

And finally, playoff tickets go on sale Monday at 10 a.m.
