Two weeks and counting: training camp schedule

That’s right, we’re officially two weeks away from when the Silvertips take the ice for the first time for training camp, and today Everett released its training camp schedule. The veterans check in on Wednesday, Aug. 21, while the invited players check in the following morning before on-ice sessions begin.

The format has a few tweaks this year, with the teams just having practices on the first day. The scrimmages begin Friday afternoon, and each team plays each other team just once instead of twice. Sunday morning sees the top two teams from round-robin play square off for the second annual Volunteer Cup, with the Green vs. Grey intrasquad game taking place Sunday afternoon.

Camp moves back to the main ice at Comcast Arena this year after taking place at the Community Rink last year. All sessions are again open to the public free of charge.

As for my real-time coverage of training camp this year, live blogging should be an option again after taking last year off. However, since we’re back at the main rink, I’m considering doing Twitter updates again this year since that would allow me to sit a little closer to the action. If you have a preference, please let me know in the comments section.

Anyway, here’s a little more detailed schedule (though we don’t have rosters for the teams yet):

AUG. 22

10:30 a.m. – Grey practice

12 p.m. – Green practice

1:30 p.m. – Blue practice

3 p.m. – Red practice

4:45 p.m. – Blue vs. Red

AUG. 24

9:45 a.m. – Green vs. Red

1:15 p.m. – Goalie session
