Washington will play the Indiana Hoosiers in Madison Square Garden as part of the 2K Classic this fall.

The four participants in the bracket round of the 2K Classic — Washington, Indiana, UConn and Boston College — have been known for months. The matchups at MSG were not set until Wednesday.

Each school will play two home games as part of the event prior to the MSG games. Washington will play Indiana Thursday, Nov. 21 in the second game of the night. UConn and BC will tipoff at 4 p.m. PT. Each game will be televised on ESPN2.

The winners and losers play each other the next day.

Washington is 1-2 all time against the Hoosiers, who were a NCAA tournament No. 1 seed last year and compiled a 29-7 record. The teams faced each other twice in 1979, with Indiana winning both times. The Huskies’ lone win in the series came at the Far West Classic in Portland, Ore., 81-79 on Dec. 29, 1966.

The Huskies will be playing at Madison Square Garden for the fourth and fifth times in a two year span. UW went 0-3 at the arena during the 2012 season. They lost 79-77 to Marquette in the Jimmy V Classic (Dec. 6, 2011), 86-80 vs. Duke (Dec. 10, 2011) in the CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic and 68-67 (OT) against Minnesota (March 27, 2012) in the semifinals of the NIT.

Despite last year’s run by Indiana, there’s a good chance UConn will enter this mini-tournament as the highest ranked team. Indiana should still be in the top 25 — largely because of point guard Yogi Ferrell and scrappy small forward Will Sheehey — but it lost two stars to the NBA in Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo. Ferrell versus highly touted incoming Washington freshman Nigel Williams-Goss is an intriguing matchup.

UConn returns the majority of the team that beat Washington 61-53 last year.

Washington is yet to announce the rest of its non-conference schedule.
