Vote for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Week for March 29-April 4

The Athlete of the Week nominees for March 29-April 4. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with next week’s poll. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll. Last week’s winner is included below.

Last week’s winner:

Jayden Limar | Lake Stevens | Football

Limar, a sophomore, racked up three touchdowns and 187 yards from scrimmage on just 12 touches in the Vikings’ 43-36 victory over Marysville Pilchuck. Limar ran for 131 yards and two scores on eight carries and caught four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. The sophomore running back won last week’s poll by claiming 486 of 2,164 (22.5%) votes.

Note: Athlete of the Week winners aren’t eligible for a nomination the following week.

This week’s nominees:

Ryan Black | Glacier Peak | Football

Black, a senior, ran the ball 32 times for 348 yards and three touchdowns in the Grizzlies’ 63-35 loss to Lake Stevens. Black scored on runs of 87, 67 and 49 yards.

Brycen Blankenship | Monroe | Football

Blankenship, a senior, completed 26 of 38 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns as the Bearcats topped Snohomish 42-22.

Madelynn Butler | Lake Stevens | Girls swim and dive

Butler, a junior, claimed first place in the 100-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly in the Wesco 4A all-league virtual swim and dive meet. She finished the 100 freestyle in 53.22 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 57.28 seconds. Butler was also a member of the Vikings’ victorious 200 freestyle relay team.

Connie Chen | Kamiak | Girls swim and dive

Chen, a senior, won the diving competition in the Wesco 4A all-league virtual swim and dive meet. Chen finished with an 11-dive score of 342.2, the highest across all three divisions in Wesco.

Mary Clarke | Snohomish | Girls swim and dive

Clarke, a freshman, finished first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle in the Wesco 3A North all-league virtual swim and dive meet. She swam the 50 freestyle in 23.63 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 52.95 seconds. She was also a member of the Panthers’ victorious 200 medley relay team.

Aislinn Kessinger | Cascade | Girls swim and dive

Kessinger, a senior, claimed first place in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle in the Wesco 3A South all-league virtual swim and dive meet. She finished the 100 freestyle in 54.23 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:58.71.

Nick Laman | Kamiak |Football

Laman, a senior, ran for three touchdowns and threw for two more to help the Knights complete an unbeaten 4-0 season with a 44-14 victory over Cascade.

Tiffany Vuong | Mountlake Terrace | Girls swim and dive

Vuong, a senior, won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly in the Wesco 3A South all-league virtual swim and dive meet. She posted times of 25.62 seconds in the 50 freestyle and 1:05.2 in the 100 butterfly. She was also a member of the Hawks’ victorious 400 freestyle relay team.

James Yoon | Jackson | Football

Yoon, a junior, drilled a 44-yard game-winning field goal as time expired to give the Timberwolves their first win since Oct. 26, 2018 with a 36-34 victory over Everett.
