Boys Games

Skyline drops lacrosse contest to Maryland high school

TOWSON, Md. – Playing the first of a two spring-break road games against East Coast opponents, Skyline dropped a narrow 7 – 8 boys prep lacrosse decision to Towson High School, Thursday in Towson, Maryland.

Skyline (4-5-0) next faces Gerstell Academy (Md.), Saturday, April 12 in Finksburg, Md.

Skyline is among six Washington state boys high school lacrosse teams playing spring break games across the U.S. this week. The others include Bellevue, which is traveling through Virginia, Newport is playing in Colorado, while Issaquah is in Texas, Mercer Island is playing in Connecticut and Tahoma has games scheduled in Arizona.

Tahoma lacrosse stymied in Arizona by Chaparral High School

REDDING, Conn. – Playing the first of two spring-break road contests in Arizona, Tahoma dropped a 9 – 4 boys high school lacrosse decision, Thursday to Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Hudson Taylor led the way in the contest that saw Tahoma matching Chaparral goal-for-goal in the first but then giving up eight unanswered goals through the middle part of the game to trail 9 – 1 heading into the final set.

The Bears gave it a run in the fourth scoring three but were unable to overcome the light’s-out defensive effort by Chapparal through the middle quarters.

Tahoma goaltender Dustin Hendrix had 18 saves on 27 shots in the contest.

Tahoma (5-3-0) next faces Desert Vista (Ariz.), Saturday, April 12 in a 10:30 a.m. start at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona.

Bellevue lacrosse gets ninth win, second against Virginia opponent

MCLEAN, Va. – Bellevue locked-in its ninth win of the spring and second of two against spring-break boys prep lacrosse opponents in Virginia with a 12 – 6 win over Langley High School, Thursday in McLean, Va.

The two-time defending state champion Wolverines took charge early besting Langley 2 – 1 in the first then adding four in the second for a 6 – 2 half-time lead.

In the second half, Langley finally managed to test Bellevue, but in the end the Wolverines added six more over the final two quarters to secure their second win against Virginia High Schools.

Bellevue (9-1-0) next faces Dominion (Va.), Friday, April 11 in a 3:30 p.m. stat at Dominion High School in Sterling, Virginia.

Bothell-Inglemoor blanks Mount Si in lacrosse

BOTHELL – Bothell-Inglemoor evened its boys prep lacrosse record to 4 – 4 with a 12 – 0 shutout over Mount Si, Thursday at Tambark Creek Park in Bothell.

Mount Si goaltender Robb Rainey had 12 saves in the loss.

Bothell-Inglemoor (4-4-0) next faces Kamiak (3-1-0), Tuesday, April 22 in an 8 p.m. start at Tambark Creek Park in Bothell. Mount Si (0-6-0) next faces Seattle Academy (3-1-0), Saturday, April 12 in a 6:30 p.m. start at Lower Woodland Park #7 in Seattle.

Girls Games

Ruhl gets five as Roosevelt rides past Puyallup in girls lacrosse

ORTING – Kelsey Ruhl scored five goals and Sarah Woo had four as Roosevelt road to its fourth win of the spring with a 16 – 11 girls high school lacrosse win over Puyallup, Thursday at the Orting Soccer Field.

The Roughriders eased ahead in the first with a 7 – 5 advantage then put up nine second-half goals to stay ahead through the end.

Both Ruhl with her five goals and Woo with four goals and an assist finished with five points, while Emily Cohen had six points (3g, 3a) for Roosevelt.

Puyallup was led by Emerald Ridge junior Sandy Roscelli with five goals.

Roosevelt (4-3-2) next faces Mukilteo (1-3-1), Tuesday, April 29 in a 6:30 p.m. start at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo. Puyallup (5-1-0) next faces SW Seattle (1-3-0), Tuesday, April 15 in a 7:45 p.m. start at Mosier Field in Burien.

Kennedy girls down Curtis in lacrosse

SEATAC – Eileen Bruns had a dominating night scoring seven goals and scooping up 10 ground balls as Kennedy Catholic made quick work of Curtis in girls high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Sunset Park in SeaTac.

The Lancers put up 11 first-half goals then cruised with four in the second for the win.

Bruns finished the night with seven draw controls to set the tone.

For Curtis, Shavonne Richardson led the way with two goals and six ground balls for the Lady Viks.

Kennedy Catholic (4-3-0) next faces Overlake (2-2-0) , Wednesday, April 16 in a 3:30 p.m. start at the Overlake School in Redmond. Curtis (1-7-0) next faces Bellevue (1-4-0), Wednesday, April 23 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Curtis High School in University Place.

Marx, Carpenter hat tricks lead Bainbridge girls past Holy Names in lacrosse

SEATTLE – Sallie Marx and Ellen Carpenter recorded hat tricks as Bainbridge rolled to an easy 17 – 7 girls high school lacrosse defeat of Holy Names, Thursday at Seattle’s Magnuson Park.

The Spartans doubled-up on the Cougars in the first taking a 6 – 3 lead into the half, then upped their game in the second putting nine in the net through the final horn.

Marx finished the night with six points (3g, 3a), Carpenter had four (3g, 1a) while McKenzie Scott and Kelly Coffyn combined for eight save sin goal.

Holy Names was led by Ellie Rothrock and Madeline McDonald with two goals, while freshman Martha Blatner had a strong comple-game performance with eight saves between the Cougars pipes.

Bainbridge (4-0-1) next faces Snohomish-Glacier Peak (4-1-0), Thursday, April 17 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish. Holy Names (3-3-0) next faces Mercer Island (2-4-00CAT, Tuesday, April 15 in an 8 p.m. start at Mercer Island High School.

Boyle bags four as Hale blasts Bethel to even girls lacrosse record

SPANAWAY – Anna Boyle netted four goals while Sadie Ludice and Haley Kinoshita had three as Nathan Hale evened its record with a strong 15 – 6 girls high school lacrosse win over Bethel, Thursday at Art Crate Field in Spanaway.

Hale stepped up with 10 first-half goals then stayed just out of reach of the Braves with a 5 – 4 second half to cruise to the win.

Angel Kintz and Lisa Thompson led the way for the Braves with two goals each.
