Wednesday links: is Browner’s suspension as clear-cut as we think?

After a “bonus” practice Tuesday, the Seahawks begin their regular work week today, and do so with a cloud hanging over the team in light of this week’s suspension news. Pete Carroll, however, says that while he is disappointed his team is going forward without Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner, this distraction won’t derail the team’s momentum.

News Tribune Columnist Dave Boling says the blame for these suspensions should be on the individuals.

Speaking of Browner, ProFootballTalk.com offers an interesting theory on his suspension, wondering of Browner advanced to stage three of the league’s drug program—the stage in which a positive test leads to a one-year ban, which is what he’s reportedly facing—not by failing a test, but by missing one while he was not in the NFL. It’s important to note that this is only a theory being presented, though for what it’s worth, Browner’s agent, Peter Schaffer, did post a link to the article on Twitter. Browner is currently appealing his suspension, though given his current injury status, his season could be over regardless of what happens with this suspension.

Doug Farrar of SI.com says the Seahawks may be their own worst enemy.

Seahawks.com looks at Byron Maxwell, who is expected to step into a starting role with Thurmond and Browner out.

Tired of suspension news yet?

From the league, scenarios that would allow the Seahawks to clinch a playoff berth this weekend.

Fan group Volume 12 is out to reclaim the world record for crowd noise. If you’ll recall, Seahawks fans set a Guinness World Record earlier this season against San Francisco, only to have Chiefs fans break it shortly thereafter.
