While I’m Waiting

I’m waiting for some Huskies to show up so now is probably a good time to take a look back at my picks from last week. It wasn’t my best showing.

California vs. Arizona State: What I said: Arizona State 33-26; What happened: California 49-21. The Sun Devils were banged up and maybe they aren’t as good as I thought, and apparently Cal is better than I thought.

Washington State vs. Stanford: What I said: Stanford 31-24; What happened: Washington State 36-10. What was I thinking? It all made so much sense at the time. But boy is the Cardinal bad. Really, really bad.

Washington vs. UCLA: What I said: Washington 30-23; What happened: Washington 29-19. It looked like I’d be wrong after 20 minutes but the Huskies rallied and made me a winner.

USC vs. Arizona: What I said: USC 38-10; What happened: USC 20-3. The Trojan defense was every bit as good as I thought, but the offense sputtered a little. Still, not a hard pick.

Oregon State vs. Idaho: What I said: Oregon State 46-12; What happened: Oregon State 38-0. Big day for the Beavers defense, but the Vandals aren’t exactly a tough opponent.

Record for the week: 3-2. Record for the season: 24-7.

Starting pitching, a renovated offense and regression in the AL West are in Seattle’s favor, but injury issues, bullpen concerns and the Houston Astros could be a problem.
