I haven’t been able to find official confirmation in English yet, but for those who speak Finnish this article claims that Everett defenseman Rasmus Rissanen has made Finland’s final roster for the World Junior Hockey Championships. That’s a tremendous honor for Rissanan, and it means the Tips will be represented at World Juniors this year.
Rissanen will miss at least three of Everett’s games following the Christmas break while playing for Finland in Buffalo, N.Y. Defenseman Nick Walters (along with winger Jari Erricson) will also miss those games while playing for Team Pacific at the World Junior Hockey Championships. With overage defenseman Chad Suer’s status unknown after finishing out the first half on the sidelines with an unspecified upper-body injury, the Tips might be significantly short-handed on the blue line come Tuesday.
