At least one Republican is considering a challenge to Democratic Congressman Rick Larsen, a Snohomish County Republican official said Wednesday.

Redistricting has put Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Brier into the 2nd Congressional District, which Larsen has represented for nearly 12 years.

Snohomish County Republican State CommitteewomanOlga Farnam said Wednesday that one Republican has expressed interest in running against Larsen but that she isn’t at liberty to say who it is.

No challengers of any party have announced a candidacy.

Republican Snohomish County Councilman John Koster, who lost to Larsen in both 2000 and 2010, had said that he would again challenge Larsen before redistricting put him in the 1st Congressional District, where he is the only Republican candidate, now that two others have withdrawn.

Candidates file for ballot positions May 14-18.
