Alyssa Reuble

Meadowdale High School

The junior pitcher threw her first high school career no-hitter in a 5-0 victory over Oak Harbor in a Western Conference 3A softball game March 28 at Oak Harbor High School. Reuble struck out 11 and issued no walks. A Meadowdale error prevented her from recording a perfect game. “She was just dominant on the mound all game long,” Meadowdale coach Dennis Hopkins said. Reuble improved to 2-3 overall. “My curveball was working really well,” Reuble said. “Also my change-up was good.” Reuble platooned between pitching and playing shortstop last year. “I love pitching,” she said. “It’s my passion.”

Matt Hirsch

Meadowdale High School

The senior helped the Mavericks to key victories over Glacier Peak and Mountlake Terrace in Western Conference 3A baseball play. Hirsch went 3-for-4 with a double and two triples as the Mavericks upended the Grizzlies 9-7 March 27 at Glacier Peak High School. Hirsch also pitched an inning in relief to record the victory. He then went 3-for-4 with three singles and two RBI to help Meadowdale defeat the Hawks 4-1 March 28 at Mountlake Terrace High School. The Mavericks lost their first four games of the year but have rebounded to start league play 3-1. “We wanted to win those first few games and get off to a good start,” he said.
