WWU scholarship winners

Western Washington University student Lorena Garcia, daughter of Alfonso Garcia and Margarita Arceo of Lynnwood, has accepted an $8,793 Mildred M. Bain Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.

The scholarship goes to students in Western’s Woodring College of Education. Garcia graduated from Edmonds-Woodway High School in 2011. She is majoring in English and secondary education. Her activities include being a preschool teacher at A Step Ahead Bilingual Preschool.

Yelizaveta Vasilyevna Serova, daughter of Vasiliy and Yelena Serova of Lynnwood, has accepted a $3,250 College of Fine and Performing Arts Dean’s Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year.

Serova graduated from Mariner High School in 2006. She holds a 3.98 GPA and is majoring in music.

Edmonds Police Foundation awards students

The Edmonds Police Foundation awarded its 2012 scholarships to Quinn Massey, now a student at Western Washington University, and Lily Rucker, a recent graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School.

The $1,000 scholarships honor and give financial support to students who have chosen to pursue an education in criminal justice, law enforcement or related fields.
