Republicans have not endorsed a candidate to oppose 1st Legislative District State Rep. Derek Stanford.*
I reported a few days ago that Snohomish County Republicans had endorsed Brian Travis in the race against incumbent Democrat Derek Stanford.
But County Republican Chairman Bill Cooper told me Thursday that the list of endorsements he gave me last week was wrong in including Travis as an endorsed candidate.
Cooper said that the county organization couldn’t endorse a legislative candidate unless he or she had won the official endorsement from a quorum of the Republican precinct committee officers in the legislative district, something that hadn’t happened.
Guinn, Travis and Democrat Greg Rankich are challenging incumbent Stanford in the Aug. 7 primary election, with the top two vote getters advancing to the Nov. 6 general-election ballot.
Snohomish County 1st District Republicans did endorse state senate candidate Dawn McCravey and write-in candidate Mark Davies, who is challenging incumbent State Rep. Luis Moscoso.*
The district includes most of Mountlake Terrace, all of Brier and Bothell, part of Kirkland, areas of King County between Bothell and Kirkland, and unincorporated areas of Snohomish County north and east of Bothell.
