Edmonds hydro crashes

The Miss Peters and May, an unlimited hydroplane based out of Edmonds, crashed at 103rd annual APBA Gold Cup on July 15 in Detroit, Mich.

Driver JW Myers was uninjured in the mishap.

The Peters and May hydroplane qualified fourth for the race, averaging 155.371 mph over two laps on the 2.8-mile circuit.

Myers recorded the fastest speed ever for the boat at more than 156 mph.

The Miss Peters and May was one of three crashes that occurred on Sunday.

Earlier, the Miss Peters and May took fifth place in the Indiana Governor’s Cup July 8 in Madison, Ind.

Myers’ average speed was 111.708 mph.

The Miss Peters and May currently is fifth place overall.
