Edmonds superintendent hosts parent meetings

Edmonds School District Superintendent Nick Brossoit will host parent meetings around the district this fall. One meeting will take place in each of the four quadrants of the Edmonds School District. He will discuss the work the district is doing with regard to student achievement, the district’s fiscal outlook, and any other topics of interest.

Meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Alderwood Middle School library, 20000 28th Ave. W, Lynnwood

  • Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Meadowdale Middle School library, 6500 168th St. SW, Lynnwood

  • Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Brier Terrace Middle School library, 22200 Brier Rd., Brier

  • Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the College Place Middle School commons, 7501 St. SW, LynnwoodBrochure explains progress reports

    The Edmonds School District has curriculum nights scheduled to take place in various schools in the weeks to come. The district has created brochures to help parents understand their student’s progress in kindergarten through sixth-grade.

    Brochures are available to download in English, Korean, Spanish and Russian. The brochures include concepts students should know and be able to do by the end of the school year and may act as a helpful resource to parents throughout the year.     Edmonds hosts second annual “Street Strut”

    The Edmonds Public Schools Foundation will be hosting “Street Strut” from 9-11:30 a.m., Oct. 9 at Edmonds Civic Field, in honor of late Lynnwood High School cross country coach Vic Bennet, who passed away last year.

    A portion of this year’s proceeds will go to the cross country and track programs in the District.

    Registration is now open for the 5K run or walk through Edmonds, which is meant to help support the Foundation’s mission of providing support to students in the Edmonds school district. The school with the highest turnout will receive the golden running shoe trophy and cash prizes for their school’s physical education department.

    English classes for adults at MLT high school

    Adults in the community can participate in English classes at Mountlake Terrace High School starting on Sept. 28. These classes are for parents and family members of children in the Edmonds School District. The meetings will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday starting on Sept. 28 and running through Nov. 23. Childcare is available for children aged three to 10 years old.

    Registration will take place on the first night of classes. Mountlake Terrace High is located at 21801 44th Ave. W, Mountlake Terrace.
