Former long-serving Tulalip Tribes chairman Mel Sheldon has been hired by Strategies 360, a Seattle-based consulting firm.

Sheldon will serve as the firm’s senior vice president of American Indian affairs. He will be working on projects and partnerships with tribes and organizations across the country seeking to advance the goals and priorities of tribal nations.

Sheldon helped lead economic developments such as construction of the Tulalip Resort Casino and the first ever chartered tribal city in the United States, Quil Ceda Village.

Sheldon lost in a re-election bid for the Tulalip Tribes board during the annual tribal vote in March.
